From the many shots taken when Gale Force visited ‘Tynwald Chambers’ as part of their tuition in Summer School 2011, please see here Richard Corlett, now 18 years old, ‘pretending’ to be Speaker of the House of Keys much to the amusement of all the students. Since completing his own examinations and basic training Richard has continued to work along side Director Mrs Gale and now having passed his A levels is off to Plymouth University to train as a full time teacher. His work with the young people has been exceptional and he will be very sadly missed from their Friday night sessions but has promised to be home in time for the Christmas show and for 2012 Summer School.
Dressed as the new President of Tynwald is Moira Pain, another Senior student of the Gale Force who was also a very willing volunteer during their Summer School and who was very willing to take the place of Mrs Claire Christian if just for 30 minutes! She has just passed her 10 GCSE’s with a total of 9x A star passes and one B grade, yet another very talented and promising student of which Gale Force are immensely proud.
Finally Gale Force had to bid a fond farewell to a very popular and very supportive Vice President, Mrs Sue Bowring who with her husband Johnny leaves the Island on September 7th to begin a new life in Australia and hoping for a sunnier, warmer retirement. Many tears were shed but as Mrs Bowring reminded the students with the new 21st Century technology she will be able to talk to Mrs Gale by ‘Skype’ and is intending to speak to them all with her thoughts for next years Summer school by laptop!!
She has been both supportive, instructive, and a good friend to Gale Force and will be very sadly missed but we all wished her well and all love to them both for their future.
